What Absa learnt about using the .Africa domain

Absa Group became one of the first large corporates to use the .Africa domain by changing its website address to www.absa.africa.

The .Africa domain was launched just more than a year ago, and is widely promoted by the African Union to support and develop business on the African continent.

Weird... seems like a retarded choice to move lock stock and barrel to a new TLD like .africa

I would have just tacked it onto the existing .co.za stuff they already own.

Hmm might have to white list Absa on my personal email account then, I have it set to block all emails from the new TLDs as the amount of spam I was getting was horrendous , all from the new TLDs

I don't get it. They move to a new TLD but have to transfer email accounts? Surely they can just edit their email address policy and roll it out from there? No new hardware is required for a domain move or am I missing something?

I think pertinent details are missing from the article...

You are not missing anything, super stupid to migrate for a change like this.
