I am somewhat conflicted, I find myself wanting to open up the WOW website and enter my credit card details to play this game.

Thanks to MissM, I have a trial account. My level 16 mage keeps calling me back to this fantasy world.

I have been tempted by the dark side, I have been consumed by the lure of Azeroth.

I want more...

Give it a bash mate. You will enjoy it, and don't stress about the credit card details. If there is one website that is safe, that is the WoW subscription page :D

I did it a few times and only got away from that wolf once. I;m to damn slow every time :D I keep watching the other people run and then on Vent I hear "RUN BEESBAL RUN !!!!!!!!!"

I've done it 4 times and finished 3 without dying!

Dude most MMOs will suck away your social live if you over do it.Well multiplayer games > Single player once.
 
Now is a great time to start playing as loads of people are starting new accounts and even more are coming back for the expansion
 
The problem starts when you start thinking the other way round - my social life is dragging me away from wow

Define social life? Going out and having fun with friends. Raiding a bar or a night club.

Wow Life? Going out into Azeroth and having fun with friends. Raiding an instance or faction city.

For some people wow life will be the closest thing they get to a social life anyway. And that is not due to them playing online games... Week days used to get home, read a book or watch some TV. Now I get home and feel the need to have a chat with other people with similar interests.

Depends on what you call "social life"

Some people come home from work, watch some TV, and then go to sleep. Rinse repeat during the week. On weekends they might get together with some friends have a few drinks, go home, sleep, repeat.

Now playing an online game, you come home, and end up talking and having fun with 20+ people every night, and you can still meet up with your "RL" friends on weekends for a braai and a few drinks. Sometimes the people you meet online actually become RL friends as well who you now also go out to braai's with.

MMO's can acually "increase" your social activity. You just need to find the balance between sitting behind your PC all the time and going outside. Which I will agree though, is the hard part.

EDIT: LOL seems Werries2 and I have the same idea's.

Try doing that wolf run with 1800ms then you see whats fun.
Damn that red ridinghood suck for SA people with lag the days before i got unshaped adsl man i dont mis them.

I was in a SA only giuld and if the latency is high people die.

lol, took me quite a few runs to get Legacy, never got the rifle. The second kara group got it EVERY time :(

Boom, you have lag on everything you do lately :D

Lag is only a problem if you make it one. I have never played with a connection over 800 ms and even that is more than playable ;) Anything less than 1k is awesome for PvE. And I doubt anyone gets over 1k latency :)
