what are the career opportunities for a dynamic programmer?

I'm a junior to intermediate developer with 2 years Java experience working for a large consulting company, i have self taught myself other languages like PHP, HTML, C# etc. I have been mostly working in big financial projects, which kinda bore me because they mostly use old technologies and are not as rapid. I'm really passionate about software development but I enjoy innovative and short lived projects, where I can suggest and research technologies even outside of Java, develop prototypes and be involved in design, do demos etc. I get bored quicker. :erm:

What kind of companies or environments may I approach to get a job that would fit my style and what I enjoy? Media companies? Digital agencies?

Please advise as I'm confused about my next job :confused:
 
you probably need to be working for a startup and start on the ground floor, the trouble is that you aren't likely to be remunerated initially to the extent that you would like ...
 
Which kind of Start-ups are you referring too, may you name a few if you don't mind? I'm not sure if I'm aware of local startups.
 
AS far as prospective employers are concerned what you have taught yourself is mostly irrelevant, unless you managed to get paid for it. Employers usually only really care what someone was willing to pay you for.

I learned those languages and other technologies like Amazon Web Services because I needed to develop prototypes and ideas.
