Hi guys i bought this some time ago, I think the batteries are on the way out.
Are these Lithium batteries?
What would you replace them with?

Mecer 2400VA Inverter + 2x 100AH Battery (8 HOUR BATTERY LIFE) KIT - 1440W - Battery Type : 100AH AGM Deep Cycle (600+ cycles)

I think I upgraded the batteries but now need something that would last longer,
What would you recommend?

Thanks

I got an ExpertPower Deep Cycle Battery bank. Can vouch that they are kak good. About R20k each when I bought them - but you get what you pay for.

And a battery balancer for R600.

All in under R10K inc delivery, which around the best you'll find for 2x LifePO4 drop in replacements for LA batteries.

I would just buy a 24v lifepo4 to avoid needing extra balancers

They work fine on 10A charge with lithium

Mine worked for long with lithium on 10A, i used mine from day one with lifepo4

When the stages went higher i started using 20A the inverter popped few days later

Many say adding extra fans solves the charging circuit overheating and popping eventually

If i had to do it over again i would still use lifepo4

I would just add an extra charger as spare charger is a lot cheaper than risking the inverter

no this is AGM batteries - a type of lead acid.

What the heck is deep cycle? what does that even mean?
You get various types of SLA batteries.
1. Cranking battery, as in your car, can take a short sharp punch.
Hates going flat, likes being kept fully charged.
Has maybe 6 or 12cycles
2. High Cycle, can take a few mild discharges.
Has a few dozen cycles
3. Deep cycle can take a few hundred discharges (cycles) .

Note: none of these like going below about 12.2v.

Lifepo4 can take a few thousand discharges...

Lead-acid batteries typically support 500 to 1000 cycles and should ideally be discharged to no more than 50%. If you perform one cycle per day, the battery is expected to will last you approximately 2 years.
On the contrary, lithium batteries offer 3000 to 6000 cycles and can be discharged to 20%, suggesting a potential lifespan of 6 to 10 years in theory.

If your inverter is compatible, switch to lithium batteries; otherwise, consider the EcoFlow series of inverters.

Could also get the 24v battery straight

Nah more likely 200 to 500. I have seen 2 really cheap Royal Delkors hit close to 1000 though, but they were treated really well until the last couple rounds.

It doesn't fit inside the Mecer trolley housing unfortunately.

Cyril said load shedding is almost over, so buying a battery would be a waste of money.
