What bed to choose?

After reading another thread, I though of our bed. Me and my wife have this foam matress for 15 years now, and we thought it's still going strong. But we always wake up tired. We're too young still for pains, but always so tired.

Do maybe it's time. I always liked the foam matresses (cloud nine), but where do one start, with so many choices. Spring or foam, different brands, etc.

Have you considered that the problem could be psychological? I had the same problem, waked up so tired no matter what. Turns out I was tired from sleeping too much. I changed my sleeping pattern to a maximum of 6 hours per night, never felt better. The older you get, the less sleep you need.

Yes a lot. Me and my wife have quite a demanding career, but still i think after 15 years a matrass is ready to be replaced.

Thanks for the input everyone!

I recently bought a Cloud Nine Blue Eclipse from Mattress Warehouse.

I bought specifically from them because they were running a 10% discount on website orders, and that they offer a 100 night 'comfort trial' where you can switch out the bed if you're unhappy with it for any reason. Also, they allowed a credit card payment on delivery - I liked that.

The bed itself is great. It's firm, but comfortable. It's a layered foam mattress with a memory foam layer on top that is infused with gel - apparently this helps dissipate body heat issues that usually occur with memory foam mattresses. There is zero movement transfer so I don't disturb the SO when I am getting into and out of bed. It's also a no-turn mattress which is convenient.

Hi All, I am looking for a double base and matress. After testing various beds, I have narrowed my options to:
Berkshire Silent Night at The Matress Firm;
Dual comfort at The Bed Shop; and
Therapeutic Superior at the Bed Shop.

Any thoughts on these mattresses and which is the best choice between the 3.

Thank you

The only tips I can give on choosing a new bed.
1. Spend the most money you can afford, we drive hellish expensive cars but then skimp on the price of a bed which you use much longer per day than the car.
2. The weight rating is very important, if you weigh 120 kg but buy a 100 kg bed, don't ask questions or bad mouth it if it only lasts 3 - 4 years.
3. When going out to test mattressess, take along your own pillow, sounds weird but a pillow influences your sleep much more than you think. Some bed shops will give clients very expensive high end pillows when testing mattresses without them knowing it, but test that same mattress with a cheap pillow and it will feel totally different. Using your own pillow will give you the best all round perception of the mattress, you might think a mattress is wow, meanwhile the pillow they gave you is wow and the mattress average.

Thank you for the helpful information. Will definitely take my pillow along.
