I recently dropped my camera in the ocean...long story. :o
Insurance is only paying out about R2500.

Any suggestions for a good(ish) camera at that price?
Is it worth looking at Cash Crusaders etc. for a bargain?
I am weary of buying a fake.

Thanks!

What kind of camera? I'm assuming a digital point-and-shoot?

Yes, something to take good shots with and not hassle too much.

I have started doing digital art at home and what to start taking it a bit more serious now.

So want to be able to take Panoramic and Macro shots at high quality but my budget is tight.

Super macro mode is something that Canon does very well, have a look at their A-series and S-series of cameras.

If you want the most bang for your buck and the most convenience when it comes to buying just hop down to your local Kodak shop and try to get your hands on a Z-series camera. The Z980 is currently the top of the range but a Z1015 should do nicely.

Kodak cameras are ****e. Made in china crap with below average lenses... imho of course.

I'd suggest Canon, Panasonic, Nikon or Sony.

Not all cameras are created equal.

In your case I'd suggest looking for one that floats :)

Depends on what kind of pics you will take.

If you are doing sports photography and need fast lenses, Canon. If you want stunning image quality but not so concerned about fast lenses, Nikon.

You might have that backwards but regardless, the O/P is looking for a P&S.
