It was cheap and I needed a car for work.

I've moved on to a 2021 Nissan Almera. It's an N17, 1.5l manual model. It was decently cheap and is way more car than the same priced (on the ex-rental market) Suzuki Swift.

2010 Opel Corsa D 1.4

I got it as a year-old car in 2011. It's not much, but it has been reliable and is light on fuel. I've never run it empty but using the M1/N3 every day (peak hour) and averaging 100 km/h, I get around 5.9l/100 km, so I'd guesstimate a full tank (45l) will get me in the region of 700+ on the open road. Strict town driving at my previous job averaged around 6.5-7l/100km. Not bad considering it isn't a modern engine. It won't blow your socks off, but the engine is very responsive and pulls well in gear, so I rarely have to stir the 'box when trying to move through traffic. The one thing I don't like about it is the gearing at the higher end. At 100 km/h you are already sitting at 3000 rpm, so it really doesn't like to cruise at higher speeds. May explain why the Corsa Es came out with 6-speed gearboxes.

I would like to replace it, but my employment situation is uncertain and car prices in general are insane. So, while it is paid off and not burning me with maintenance costs, I'll stick with it.

Otherwise whatever car is standing in the driveway, so Toyota, Hyundai, VW or Ford, each bought because price was good for mileage and liked how it handled, 2 more lower end hatchbacks, one van and one more premium.

Now you have a live in Girlfriend and a Car.

My car is a VW Jetta 2002 with around 118k on the clock.

My Wifes is a Hyundai Atos 2012 with around 240k on the clock.

I drive both pretty much 50/50 so multiple votes would have been nice.
