GF is getting a picanto so I am stealing her Fordka, so as not to lose my man card I want to sell/trade it in and get something else.

The things pretty borked, a few bumps and 1 or 2 leaks under the hood (not oil)

A dealer offered her 25k as a trade in so I am buying it from her for the same.

What should I get in the same price range with a little more looks/oomph. I can add perhaps 10k to the price so my limits around 35k.

I am avoiding taking finance as I want to apply for a bond and car finance will tank my affordibilty

Throw some Mags and a Tap-Out sticker on the Ka and fix it up.

Should still have plenty of life in it.

I've never been able to take a Ka seriously since a friend told me that the back view reminded them of the head of a guy's penis peeping out from under the foreskin! :p

Also it sounds close to "Ford K A K".:

Edited: K A K is censored? WTF?

First of all, **** *** *** **** ****** **** ***** all the haters who don't like the Ford Ka.

Secondly as Kix said the Ka probably has plenty of life in it. Get the leaks fixed up for a lot less than the R10,000 you're willing to spend and suck it up until you can afford a decent upgrade. Remember that you know the history of the Ka, whereas anything else for R35,000 is a complete unknown, and for the most part you'll end up with something quite knackered for sub-R40,000 in any event.

The Ka is a good little car with solid handling, if taken care of the 1.3 Rocam engine will go far, but in your case it seems it is tethering on some sort of major breaking down of sorts. At around R35k your options are severely limited, I would go for something like an Alfa 156 with as close to 100,000km on the clock as possible. There are some out there.
