What chassis would you recommend? P6T7 WS SuperComputer

I am thinking CM Cosmos... pure black or perhaps limited edition... the PSU will be too light for the 3 GPU and 1 dedicated physics card... methinks...

Any recommendations...

May I ask dor what reason you have chosen this behemoth of a motherboard for?

Number crunching etc? The board was waaay overboard (personally, me thinks).

Back to question.. (Since I'm a teeensy bit jealous)

The cooler master Cosmos is a very nice box. Have you looked at the Antec 182? The one that looks like a fridge?

:D

Well it is perfect for 3 decent GPUs in SLI with a 4th cheapy as a physics processor...

If money is not an issue, would you choose a different board? For the record, this is not for me. It is a request by somebody else who wants me to build it.

This is the setup so far:
  • ASUS P6T7-WS SuperComputer
  • Intel lga1366 i7 975XE
  • 2 x Corsair TR3X6G1600C8D Dominator with DHX technology , 3 x 2Gb/2048mb kit
  • 3 x Asus ENGTX285 TOP/HTDi/1GD3
  • ASUS EN9800GT EN9800GT/HTDP/1GMD3 for physics - how to configure this I am not 100% sure. :D
  • 3 x Corsair CMFSSD-256D1 256Gb Extreme series , 2.5" SATA2 SSD , with 64mb cache , MLC Solid-State Drive , native read : 240mb/sec / write 170mb/sec :: for raid config.
  • LG BH08-LS20 , black , Dual Layer , Blu-Ray writer (8x
  • Razer Lycosa gaming keyboard , with non-slip rubber finish
  • Razer Mamba , wired+wireless dual mode with charging dock
  • Samsung T260 , ToC rose black , 25.5" Wide , MagicBright3

Dare I ask, but what does that all up to? Looks well over 50K... at cost :D
That thing is going to kick ass! :D
Replace T260 with 30" DELL if you can find one. :)

Just over R75 200.

Will ask about a bigger screen... :)

I wish it was for me. It is a good exercise though in what is out there and what can be had should this machine not be built. It will have to be signed off on first. Ideas are most welcome.

R75K... wow! :D Trust me, it will have more power than the R1million equipment I used 10 years ago :D

Look at some of the high end Lian-Li stuff

http://www.lian-li.com.tw/v2/en/pro...258&cl_index=1&sc_index=25&ss_index=61&g=spec

The chasiss is optimized for keeping multiple high end GPU's cool.

Plus it makes the pc look like a supercomputer !

When it comes to super-top-end chassis, noone makes them like Lian-Li

Put it this way..

With those specs, you should SETI or NASA know.
They going to want to know what the heck is causing off the chart electromagnetic signatures..

Why not outsource the tech?

Idea...
:D

If money is no object, perhaps look at a Zalman silent chassis? The one with all-heatpipe cooling. Not sure if it would have a PSU to run that though.

I honestly can see how one could invest R75k in a computer. It just loses it's value (drastically), and in a few months (maybe year or 2 in this case) this would be outdated stuff.
