Hello all,

This is downstairs in our house. We have an ADSL modem connected upstairs - wondering if this a second ADSL connection point?

Many thanks!

That is a regular Telkom phone socket, minus its clothes (someone borrowed the cover). Plug your router in there and see if it works. First though, plug in a phone to see if you get dialing tone

Thanks. Phone works off it. That's the one line running out the bottom. There's also a splitter. Simply plug out at the top, and plug it in here?

Assuming you only have one landline number: Call the number 101999 from that telephone port and listen to the digits being read back to you. If the number they give you is your landline number it means this is merely a duplicate telephone port for the one upstairs. You can plug your ADSL modem into any of these telephone ports - just remember that you cannot have 2 ADSL modems connected to the same telephone number/line!

Thanks for the help. Called the number, and our landline number was read back. We don't have great wifi reception downstairs, so if this means I can simply move our modem downstairs, that will be a great help.

Just plug the modem in downstairs, problem solved :)
