What defines theft?

Good day.

Im a owner of a bike. The bike broke in February 2014 and a few days after that i took it to a local bike mechanic. Currently i have been waiting till this day to receive reply from him via email, calls and sms but no response at all. I getting very frustrated because i do not know what to do. Is there anybody that can give me some advice. I will really appreciate it.thank you allot

If it's a local place why haven't you gone there in person yet? :wtf:
 
No im actually far away. I just ment it was in the cape. Im about 400km away
 
I think you have to go there and check if they have it, else it is theft.
But seriously, you have waited 9 months and still haven't gone there in person?
 
Better go there fast. Many places are entitled to sell items after 3 months to recover cost if the owners do not come and claim their items. They could also charge you for storage for the 9 months.
 
I hope you have detailed records of your attempts to contact them.
 
Well afaik it isnt theft as you gave them the bike. what comolicated things is that you have no seen the bike for 9months nor made any attempt to do so.
Do you have proof that the mechanic received the bike?
What kinda bike is it?
