What do CEOs think about their pay?

LOL, no responses here at all... Speaks volumes

Some interesting points on fixed salary vs big bonus. Who here would rather get 2x their income in an annual bonus cheque, but go to near zero on their salary, and also accept that they can be fired immediately with or without cause?

I would go for it :)

I would go for it :)

I'm actually already doing it - my bonus is several times my annual salary, but it's also "discretionary" so I have no idea apart from "feel", how much I am going to earn each year. It's pretty stressful, but I think it is a worthwhile model for both employer and employee.

You a cpa?

Wtf is quantitive finance? What if models?

Partially. It's taking in all of the world/market information that you have determined to be relevant, and creating predictions for markets and then acting on those predictions. It is a very scientific process for deciding on optimal investment portfolios.

Thanks! Now my head hurts :)

Sounds like you have a very interesting job.
What tools does one use for such modeling?

It is definitely very interesting. A lot of stats and Maths on the theory side. Also a lot of machine learning and large scale distributed processing. We have written everything from scratch (C/C++), and use primarily R for small scale analysis.

hehe...always thought you were in a pure dev job. Makes sense I guess. ;)

I've worn many hats :) It's good to be able to understand and develop the theory, and then also be able to implement it and analyze the results too. The proportion of tech vs math vs finance I actually do tends to ebb and flow quite a bit.

Never heard of R.

PM 'ed you.
