Never really checked my statement, but decided to this morning :

Monthly Account Fee : R345.00
Value Add Services : R26 or so
Overdraft fee : R57 or so
Non FNB withdrawls : R13

Just wondering - what exactly is included then in the account fee? That's just to have it? What are value ads? Overdraft fee only when used?

Fnb is crazy, I have a platinum bundle account for R200 pm, they charged me R78 for a bank statement.

Why did you require a bank statement, they email you statements electronically. Which you can print and have the staff stamp for you if required.

You opted for the bundled price option, which is focused on electronic communication.

Don't you receive discounts on the overdraft fee and interest if charged any? I get it depending on the interest rates

Why pay so much for a bank account? at capitec i pay r5 per month, 3.20 per debit order, 1.50 per stop order and all my swiping free and only pay 1.25 to draw cash at till. Never paid more than r35 per month. O and i get 4.4% interest

Because Capitec doesn't have a big enough variety of account types, I'd still need to go to their branch if I want something done, they provide unsecured loans (now you can call me paranoid ) and - this was bound to come up so I may just as well be the one - with the eBucks I earn they are actually paying me to have that account open. Granted that's because I spend too much money on crap.

Yea I effectively get a R1,000 Makro voucher per month..

Yea - I see overdraft fee if -R57 and rebate of R25. Debit interest is -R2.87 and rebate is R0.82

Still not sure on the Value Add services though, as the links about say free value adds - and then go on about costs of each transaction

What level are you on?
Level 3 and it is enough to cover costs. With a bit of effort I can reach the next level (think all I need to do is have a minimum of R15k in my cheque account but that money is better used elsewhere or just get a loan). I am debt free which also counts "against" me.

Ebucks requires a lot of things before it becomes worth while.

There are so many things you do normally that add though - having a bank account for more than 18 months, no branch transactions, enable InContact, have debit orders. Most people are under the impression you need to debt for them to be effective, which isn't true.
