For all intents and purposes, I'm not qualified. For the last 10 years I've been in IT distribution in varying positions.

I'm desperately trying to look for an escape and I've only been looking at Product Manager / Channel Manager / Account Manager roles with IT industry. However very few roles out there.

What other roles can one apply for, or have my poor life choices caught up to me? Maybe Operations Manager role? Business Analyst?

If I can escape - even at the same pay - I intend to study next year

Or the president of South africa. I'm sure your qualifications exceed the current leader's.

On a serious note. Dimention data has tons of positions lining up for what you're expecting.

Good luck with the studies! That tends to help. You may need to stick it out with any job that leaves you enough time to study until the studies make you more marketable.

Wonder if you can get an IS account working at DD :D

Talk with your customers and suppliers that know you. If you have good relationships with or through that it'll be easier for them to help you move or offer you something rather than going the HR or recruitment agent route. Sales managers like people with real industry experience becuase they have credibility so try use as much of your background to get into a sales role like you mention. People need to know you're looking in order to think of you when things come up. Especially IT there's always lots of movement in the sales world. I read last week the average time sales people in IT stay in a job in 1,4 years.

You mention you're in distribution. Talk with people related to whatever products or services you know or are knowledgable about. That's easier than going into something cold.

+1. Don't wait to start if you don't need to. Changing jobs is tough so try get as much studies out the way before you move. Studying at a business school is also a great way to meet people and network to find new jobs.

DD just retreched around 180+ people

Which is why they need more sales people.
IT companies restructure all the time. Sucks for the people being let go but it's no big deal.
DD is part of NTT that has 200,000+ staff. Do not see it as a barrier or a problem for you.

Dear OP>
I am in a similar position. I am now 41 years of age and I have to get a degree, because I am sick to death of the technical/IT jobs. I'd rather spend all day animating/drawing and stuff like that. This came about after finally getting the help I need
