What do software updates do for your car?

Unless you drive a Tesla.

Then the updates can give you a whole different car with new features sometimes.

So i went in today to visit Ford to check on everything ,if it's all running smooth.( it was :p )

Then he said he just wants to update the cars software,so I've heard of this before but never really bothered asking WHAT EXACTLY it's for..

So i'm struggling to find my question on google..I'm sure one of you guys or girls know :)

Car..Ford Focus 2.0 Gdi Sport manual

The real question, is why didn't you ask the ford guy at the time?

Time ,that's the answer ...Was already late for work. While driving i thought about it

Oh. Ok. So ford focus, was probably just updates to the navigation and infotainment soft ware. Doubt if it was anything mission critical.

Oh ya. Like the p85d, that a software update changed the 0-60 time from 3.2 to 3.1 seconds. Holy smoke, a new car indeed.

Will most likely be an update to the entertainment system.

I've done that myself to my fiesta to resolve an issue with the bluetooth functionality going tits up.

What issues did you have with the Bluetooth?

It stopped working - altogether and took out the USB port as well.

Was a common issue with one of the earlier versions of the entertainment software.

I meant more the automatic emergency braking that got added recently.

Or the autonomous driving etc.

If you own a FORD they do NOTHING.

Still waiting for my Sync 2 to fully support Siri, which was added to the Sync 2 updates in other countries over a year ago.

And lest we not get started that Ford SA has bought Navigation maps but magically they don't work on Sync 2.. only on the new cars. Even though my Fusion has GPS/Navigation just no maps to load. More customer-robbing from our friends at the blue oval in South Africa..
