What do you use photoshop for?

i use photoshop for cutting mattes for logos and for very basic animation. the new photoshop CS2 looks pretty cool. should try it soon.

Okay, I'll try it with photoshop. It's just such a amazing program. I cant think that anyone can possible tell everything you can do with photoshop. Oh, and what I did to get started last year with photoshop, is I phoned every photo-club I could think of. Sometimes they get people to talk about and show them how to use photoshop. So one of them told me when to come, and I also got the lesson, and it helped a lot. The thing is with photoshop, is that there's a million ways to do one job, and it helps to see how someone else do it.

Hmm, how many of you have legal copies of Photoshop? If you bought a R6000 package for just resizing images & changing file extensions you wasted R5999.98

Another reason for using The Gimp and The Gimp Animation Package. If you really want to do only animation, Blender might be the solution for you. Unless you are a pro, that needs software support, there is no reason for not using the open source alternatives. With open source, you actually have a say in what you want in your applications.

I believe, AFAIK, that it is possible to use photoshops plugins within The Gimp. I remember such a article / comment somewhere. Found it:

After much deliberation (ok a couple seconds worth) I've decided to wait until CS3 before I upgrade.
