What does the future hold for iBurst?

I also smiled when I saw the contradiction in her statement. :)

They're on a mission here trying to ID me, to the point where they are trying to log into my myBB account. Had numerous failed login attempts from iBurst office IP addresses over the last 2 days.

Not sure why they're on a witch hunt. Everything I posted are either in the public domain or are my own views or opinions. I've not divulged any company confidential information.

But let's not take it out on Gcebile. She's a great girl and is passionate about providing support. She was clearly told to post the company line.

well you seem to know what your talking about and the truth hurts so they will do anything to shut u up

Well its not the first time we had some conspiracy theory going around of some poster been "labelled" an iBurst employee when he actually wasn't. Like I was called an iBurst employee a while back when I am actually have no ties at all to iBurst or any telecoms company. Believe it or not there are some people out there who do have positive experiences with using iBurst :P

Some people must be really bored :O

I bet you have SHARES in iBurst! ;-) Yes, I remember you often being accused of being an iBurst employee, lol. Overall my experiences have been pretty good, it just looks like soon it will be time to move on.

Heya all this topic is going way off track.

My Iburst contract is ending soon and I have been very pleased to date.

I wanna know whats going on with WIFI and whats happening on Iburst front should I renew or look for a different SP?
80% of my usage is for WoW as I dont download a lot so will IBurst still remain my best option financialy and latency wise.

Please lets try get this thread back on track.

Oh "Holla diegoa"

ibb, which connection do you suggest us gamers use then, if we can't get adsl?
Three parts to the answer (and two elements that affect it):

Today?: iBurst, if you already have the modem! - The latency has always been good for wireless and as more and more users leave iBurst for other technologies the back-haul network performance levels will increase. You're always going to get the best experience if you're the first (or last) user on the network!

Just make sure you're on month-to-month because you don't know how it's going to last.

Tomorrow (i.e. within the next 6 - 12 months)?: HSDPA at 21 or 42Mb/s. Latencies are sub-40ms it seems, i.e. on par with DSL. The real question is which network though as the radio portion is only one half of the story. The quality of the back-haul is the other and here it's a bit of a gamble in choosing between Vodacom, MTN, Cell-C or Telkom as everyone will have HSPA+ by then.

The one advantage (unlike iBurst) is that you can buy a modem and use it on anyone's network, so no-one can lock you in. Personally, I'd buy the Cell-C bundle and then get pre-paid SIMs on both Vodacom and MTN.

The day after tomorrow (i.e 24 months+)?: LTE or WiMax (.m). myBroadband published their LTE test results recently and got latencies of ~10ms! That must be any gamers (wet)dream! :) But it as much a dream for the networks to roll it out at this point.

In the sort term, if you can't get DSL and you already have an iBurst modem, stick with it but be ready to move to the cellular networks when they deploy HSPA+ in your area.

And hopefully Telkom will one day wake up and provide you with a decent DSL service. But then, I also believe we'll achieve world peace in my lifetime. ;)

Yup, what Madhawk said. Month-to-month for now until a better option arrives. In fact, maybe stay on with iBurst as long as possible to give the whole CellC charge time to settle, to make certain they are handling the expected customer influx.
