Quite a simple question really... What does the internet Lack or need more of?

I'd like to see a universal forum 'passport'. Along with the ability to post one news article/thread on many forums at one go.

I think more/better security. I really don't like the idea of organizations or isp's being able to monitor my internet activity

I want more speed. Tools to browse for me to cache everything locally. I once wrote a prefetch script to work with squid. Should do it again.

Interactive slapping.

So at the bottom of each post there would be a set of options:

| QUOTE | REPLY | SLAP |

I like this, it's really cool :p | QUOTE | REPLY | SLAP | KISS&HUG |

Guess which one I'll use? ;) :D :p

One thing the internet lacks is the opposite of anonymity. I truly wonder if you were not anonymous ie. no usernames but actual names etc what would the net look like? What kind of place would it be?

It would be sick Telkomhater. People would commit virtual murder :p ;) :D Lol, that's just my overactive imagination.

It would be much the same I bet. I'm part of a site where the members use their real names quite a lot, it's not much different, just makes it more personal and friendly ;)

On the matter of un-anonymity, Amazon has their "RealName" (or whatever they call it) feature, promoting - I suppose - open and attributable reviews. It's hardly verifiable, but to me it shows there's some need.

Pretty much everything across the web is people presenting their real names if they want to, or verifying who they are outside the 'net, ie in banks' systems etc.

My list of what is lacking on the net

1. Global banking system (like paypal, but works around the world)

2. Everything that can be purchased and downloaded from web should be (all games, books, movies...)

3. The elimination of all smileys.

4. Eventually the internet should house my hard-drive, including all the programs. A program therefor only needs to exist once. This would cut down on packaging and plastic CD waste. We'd need Wi-World.

5. Using point 4, I could also rent a program for a day, or week.

For all those guys...erm and girls that want anonymity have a look at Tor (anonymity network) - Wikipedia.

I also agree with brevity on the global banking system and Fudzy with his universal forum 'passport' idea. I must give Google credit here for allowing you to use your gmail account as your login almost everywhere on google.

Another idea i was playing around with was a "Hire a help" website where you can get someone in your area to help you out around your house(gardener, builder, painter, maid etc) but I will post my idea later on in more details, for people to help bash and mold it.

Regards,

Yeah, I agree with the global banking and purchasing of everything online.

Also, I would like one global review site where if you want to buy something anywhere in the world, you can read reviews of other people before deciding to buy.

Theres other which I cant think of now.
