I'm in need of an external 500Gb drive-based on my budget (R1100) I've narrowed it down to 2 possibilities - which is the better drive?

Option 1
Maxtor One Touch 4 3.5 inch 500GB External
[EH-M500oT4] for R1080 at TechMall

Specs
With 1-touch backup

500GB ( 3.5inch, 7200rpm, 16mb cache )

171x149x63mm , usb 2.0

5 years limited warranty

Or

Option 2

VERBATIM 500GB 3.5" EXTERNAL HDD
for R 999.00 at Chaos

Specs

- Data Transfer Rate: up to 480 Mbits/second
- Rotational Speed: 5400rpm
- Cache: 8MB or greater

Um. If you can take your budget up to R1300 i heavily recommend you go to cna and pick up the mecer brato 750 gig. It's got a samsung drive inside but it's very fast. Supports usb2 and esata.

Copying to the drive using esata is faster than copying to my internal drives.

It's really solidly built, almost no plastic. Just aluminium. It's a really great drive. I love mine.
