I legalized my PC, and therefore lost my "Fixed" copy of Photoshop. (And I was pretty good in Photoshop). Now, the option is to use GIMP. But there are so many versions... as this is on a Work Laptop, I can't take the risk and install something dodgy.

What should I use?
GIMP, GimpShop, GimpPad, GimpPhoto.... ?

GimpShop is made to somewhat (aka barely) resemble photoshop.
However vanilla GIMP is most likely the most up to date version

While you're on that grab Grokking the Gimp.
1. Dated 2000 (although some pages do appear to have been updated)
2. 22 MB download
3. If you download it off the Ubuntu repositories, it gets lost in the Linux file system, you have to search for it.
3a. To save you time, add the following bookmark to your browser (it's html):
file:///usr/share/doc/grokking-the-gimp/html/index.html
4. The reference images are too small for you to experiment with
5. It looks as though it's from 2000 :(

Wonder when the police burst into your house, if they will search for illegal movies etc. on other media like harddrives instead of dvd's.
