I really don't understand! Its saturday morning and most of corporates are at shopping malls and spending time with the family.

Why is IS so slow? I got home at 2am this morning and wanted to check a couple of things, international was super slow!

IS is basically unusable. The only sites that work on the ones on the IS or verizon network. Everything else is slow. How can the SAIX - IS link be congested at 2am?

I wonder what we pay for?

/me puts on his conspiracy theory hat

Because if i was telkom.........I'd make sure it's congested 24/7.

/takes off the hat.

This is not good for me though since i'm moving over to an uncapped IS account beginning march. Hope they get their story sorted by then.

Well ATM speeds are great! although I cant remember whether they were slow late last night or not, but since the begining of this month there has been a noticeable improvement.

Same here, no issues, but as posted earlier, alot of users on the ESR2 Capetown exchange have hassles, might be the same with you daysleeper, even on a different ESR.

The speeds on IS have been shocking for the last 6 months, with weekly service interruptions the norm.

They are in the process of adding more international satellite bandwidth. But the latency on satellite links is not that great.

The peering link between IS and SAIX has been a ongoing problem for the last two years. Don't know exactly what is going on, but I know that it ended up in the courts. Hopefully the SNO will alleviate the problem with cheaper, faster local peering options.

Peering?

It can only be a peering issue, because this site is hosted at great westerford, and it loads instantly. International is the same, whether you are capped or not.

In the past at night, it used to be faster, but its very slow! I doubt its an ATM problem because my TelkomSA account works perfectly.

The pings are all quick like sub 50ms, the the pages take forever and netmonitor seldom bursts beyond 64kb/s

Severe Network degradation

Its sunday and international pings to hp.com timeout and tomshardware.com used to be 600ms a week ago now its 1100ms+ and skype don't work!

If the whether in rosebank is ****, how is that the customer's problem?

I bet from tommorow IS will be selling more accounts! There is just not enough bandwidth!

If your getting ping of 1100ms, your account is capped daysleeper.

Im not saying your actually capped, but I believe your on a capped segment, I dont know why tho.

Try get a clean again ie. one that you know for a fact cant be capped, perhaps unused one, and try that.

Thanks Clipse!

I reset my router and now they are back to 630 again! do you think they gave me an ip from the capped pool?

I have only done about 1600 mb on a 3gb account!

Not sure, its not IP based the capping, afaik on IS.

Another thing, capped accounts can ping 600 but it goes up and up to 1100 and more, then timeouts happen, the longer you stay connected.

Make sure and check, if it happens like this, your account is capped for some odd reason.

right again!

they are back to 1100, I am capped. Will have it sorted out tommorow.
checked the isdsl stats and i'm still far from cap!

probably some mistake!

thanks very much!

Great stuff, glad I could help.

Noticed this on 2 accounts last month, had it sorted out and IS cleared the accounts.
