What GPU does a Xbox series s compare to?

No it doesn't. You need a 20XX or greater Nvidia GPU to support ray tracing.

The 16XX series does not support it - this is why they are still GTX GPUs and not RTX.

They brought it to the GTX 1660 with drivers waaaay back in 2019, it works, but it's of course slow. But then again the 2060 wasn't exactly great either.

OP, having looked at the specs, I don't think that the Xbox Series S GPU will be much of an upgrade.

RX580 = 36 CUs, 1.3 Ghz, 6 TFLOPS
XSS = 20 CUs, 1.56Ghz, 4 TFLOPS

The Series S GPU will probably be more efficient due to the new RDNA 2 architecture, and it supports ray tracing. But in raw horsepower, it isn't much different.

To get a real improvement, you need to go for the Series X or PS5.

The 16 series cards don't have hardware ray tracing support though. So yes, while they can do it in "software", they have no special purpose hardware for it, unlike the Nvidia 2000 and 3000 series GPUs.

Oh I know, but you said it can't be done, but it could barely. The 2060 has tensor cores and all the supposed stuff for ray tracing, but it barely can do it either.
