I'm very much a beginner and use a Dunlop 0.8mm. I've heard thinner is better. What do you guys think?

It depends on your playing style/genre of music you are playing.

I prefer to go as thin as possible as I'm a fast player and dont do chords/power chords. Mostly solo/lead type of playing

Sharkfin soft and sharkfin medium, depending on whether electric or acoustic, also on what genre. Like the versatility of sound one can get with the Sharkfin.

I like thin shark fin's. It is just more comfortable for me and you can hit the strings hard without breaking them as the thin shark fins are flexible.

Dunlop Jazz III's feel the most natural for me and allow precise picking with the rounded tips.

Learn to use your fingernails. Classical guitarists will outdo any plectrum oke any day of the week.

Not too many girls out there with short nails on one hand and long nails on the other - oh - except women guitarists...

Nails are the best picks once you get used to them. Have a buddy who uses artificial nails for his performances. Tried them - but prefer to "grow my own".:p

My niece has a pic punch. So she just makes her own pics from virtualy any plastic things she finds
