This morning I submitted a support ticket to Afrihost in order for them to change a co.za domain's DNS details. I was expecting the usual prompt service from this firm, I was however very wrong.

By this afternoon nothing had happened. I thought to myself "well they most likely under pressure due to some customers experiencing slow DSL speeds". With this in mind I decided to submit my request by myself via uniform directly, I thought I could help relieve some of the pressure Afrihost must be under..this is when things went very sour.

Later this afternoon to my horror, I see a retard from Afrihost sent a decline to Uniforum! Talk about not helping your customer.

Afrihost, what the hell is going on? You have no time to respond to a 57 minute call back request, no time to to answer my calls, no time to respond to a help sms but all the time to decline a simple dns update. This wasn't a transfer of domain or anything?

Gian Visser's twitter profile says "Passionate Client Service and Marketing Zealot" the latter I can vouch for the former is a blatant lie.

Shame on you

Yeah... I no longer support them. Have given up on my 384 uncapped with continual authentication issues (which sometimes last over an hour) and tickets which only get responded to two days later, switched to OpenWeb and will see how it goes there. Was activated in about half an hour, friendly response from Keoma Wright so... for now I'm quite smitten.

Very sad about Afrihost.

Looks like they're struggling...

I can support that, they might have found another ploy to just cut you off from uncapped 4096 kbps claiming you are sending spam from your IP - eich

Haven't used Afrihost hosting for a while - they started slipping some time ago unfortunately. Moved all my stuff over to Texo and have never been happier. Seriously fast service even at like 2am.

I'm not even on uncapped, still paying a "premium" R29 per gig so I should have the same service and be unaffected by their new service. I suppose that's the theory.

Texo is AMAZING. I can second their amazing support - very fast and very helpful (at obscure times). And it doesn't hurt that they have very good deals.

Update: The plot thickens and lies get worse

Before:

is in the process of being registered for you.

fee for you (you can see the full details of the package we've
given you at http://www.afrihost.com/domain-parking.php)

Remember the domain will be registered in your name
and you can do what you like with it. You can choose
to host it on one of our hosting packages, you can let
it lie dormant or you can even move it from us to another
hosting company if you like!

(If you would like to start using your domain please let
me know the hosting plan you'd like and I will organise
that it get's set up from our side)

In a year's time the annual domain renewal fee will be due.
If you choose to keep your domain there is a R100 annual

Gian

After Today

Hi there

I hope you're well :)

All our transfer requested have to be verified by our accounts department to confirm if all accounts are up to date.
I have forwarded your mail to the accounts department and will confirm if the domain can be accepted.

Please be patient as they will get back to me as soon as possible.

Thank you

Have a great day & please feel free to let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Warm regards.

Sick hey!!!

PS I am up to date (not that it should matter)

The old afrikaans says: "Moet nie meer afbyt as wat jy kan kou nie!" comes to mind. To think, I was one of their big supporters on the R29 per gb deal, and wouls still be buying it if it wasnt so damn slow!

Yeah - I've recently migrated to a cloud and oooooh it's sexy beyond words.

I truly don't expect support at 2/3am on a Sunday but I send the mails if and when I encounter a problem or have an inquiry. The support guys must sleep with their laptops or something because it's there in 30mins or less. Absolutely crazy.
