Well aren’t I just a sucker for punishment. I have left eyeburst and joined neotel.
I am right back where I started with eyeburst during their testing phase. Poor speeds dropped connections and so on.

Well I thought I would give these guys a chance. I got home all excited, installed the connection manager plugged in the modem entered username and password after seeing that I have what appears to be a good signal (4 bars) hit connect, and get the PPP protocol was terminated … bla bla bla for about 5 attempts, then the username and password is incorrect and lo and behold without doing a reboot re-install anything excepted clicking the connect button again it connected. Hmmm….. out come the xp discs and spare HDD as I know the usual 3rd party program virus and so forth and so on excuses will be given. XP sp3 fresh install, drivers, AV and neotel connection manager. 5 attempts only this time and connected. Speedtest and 340kb only on prime. Ok I end up getting a 15db antenna and 10m of cable 1st floor railing and I hit 1000kbs great I think to myself, tighten it all up and go back downstairs. This was on Friday evening round 7pm. I have yet to hit those speeds again and even get it to download a 100Mb file without dropping.

PS i have not posted my iburst modem through the office window just yet.

Where did you get the antenna from? and what make?
General interest as I'm looking into one to improve my upload speeds.

The only way you can improve your upload is by going to RevA. 1.8Mbps upload.

If you are disappointed with the service you are receiving and wish to change internet providers, cancel your contract. According to rumour the cancellation fee will be the price of the customer premise equipment, so you'll be about R500 out of pocket.

Fixed.

Qwikslver, to clarify, is that the price of the CPE or is that a contract cancellation penalty fee?

The cost of the prime device. You pay R80p/m of it off in your contract. So if you cancel early you pay R80* the months left in your contract.

The lite device is cheaper. I think R40p/m.

Thanks for clarifying, I thought the connect prime device was closer to R600

What exactly are you supposed to do with the device if you do cancel?
Can you sell it?
Ooooh ... I has new idear for Online Shop.
Oh wait .. duh .. you need to be online to use the shop .. *cry*

You can't use a device from a previous Neotel contract on a new Neotel contract. Basically the device is useless.

I suppose you could sell it as a paperweight?

Just don't GROVEL! There's way too much of it about at the moment. I much preferred your use of eyeburst (we too are using this astonishing technology:sick:) to the tame iburst that you have reverted to in this post ...:D

Woot.
call from Telkom "We are happy to inform you that you have passed CTS testing and there are lines and ports available on your exchange. Here is your confirmed installation date ...."

Let’s hope they stick to it but at least they get back to you unlike neotel. I have had a trouble ticket open for 1 week short of 3 months and the response today when I called in after numerous “has been escalated…. Some will call you in 24hrs… sorry for the inconvenience….” was that the status has been changed to in-progress and highest priority on the 16th strangely enough the same day I cancelled .. ROFLMAO and I have still not received a call or email. I really feel sorry for the people that has not been changed to highest priority.. oh wait they still don’t call you back.

/Rant off.
