Go again and see if you get the same adrenaline rush before you put down any cash. First time was awesome but second time was more like ok been there done that although it was still cool.

Well doing an Accelerated Free fall this Saturday.

Wasn't just the adrenalin rush.

The sensation of flying. I didn't do tandem.
 
How much does this cost? And not the tandem part either, a proper jump/parachute etc?
 
You are brave. I hate flying as it is and I would never voluntarily exit a plane that is airborne.

the problem i have with flying is the pilot is in control. i've had some "maverick" pilots on kulala touch down as if it's a fighter jet and/or taking off mere milliseconds after taxi'ing onto the runway as if something was chasing us.

If I'm able to go up in a plane and land the way I want, then I say "okay dokay, lets step out of this plane"

Well for a static line jump and training(which is about 5-6 hours) it's R1200. Thereafter it's about R400 a jump. You go up to about 4000 feet.

This saturday I'm doing an AFF. Costs R1600 because two instructors jump with you. Gets cheaper as you progress. Eventually also leveling at about R400 a jump if you rent club gear. This is from 11000 feet though so a lot higher.

I can barely concentrate on work. It's so boring being stuck on the ground. :)

Once you get your B license I think you can start being a camera man for other people's jumps. So they pay you to jump.

There is a guy at the club that's done 3000 jumps in 10 years. That's 25 jumps a month. Only had to use his reserve 4 times in that period.

Holy crap, that is 4 times too many :wtf:
It meanse eventually his secondary will also fail.

edit: It means jump nr 562,500 both his parachutes will definately fail.
 
Hmmm might need to try this out. Thanks for the info. I thought it was like R2k per jump each time.

Might even save up for my own light airtcraft pilot's license then.... oh no wait doesn't make sense cause I'd be jumping out the plane I was flying... ugh....

It's so worth it. Once the initial wow wears off you can start learning the air manoeuvres and stuff people do. Our instructor on top of the plane at 11000ft. The rest of us had to use the door.

at 25 jumps a month that means that he will have to jump for 1875 years before both his chutes fail and he plummets to the ground dead?

Have you ****ting yourself or making a person sized crater immortalized on DVD, the perfect Christmas present.

No thanks, I pay good money to get into an airplane and stay in there until it lands.
