I have read through this forum for some time and have heard all the ussual complaints about Telkom and their price structure. People have suggested emailing company execs and having protest rally's outside their offices. And these never seem to do anything.

What if we all decide not to pay our ADSL account one month. If we had enough people organized to commit to not paying the account on time and wait a few weeks, then they would take notice of it in accounting and ultimatly the execs would pay attention.

I am willing to go for it, but my one late payment doesn't demonstrate anything to them, I would need a bunch of people to do it.

My payment is ussually due on the 6th of the month.

What do you think? Is it worth a try?

Dude - then they're going to cut you off and charge you tons of money and hassle to reconnect.

Not a good idea.

The bluff will never work...As kilo39 said: the reconnection charges give Telkom an advantage. This gives them an opportunity to make more money and at the end of the day ADSL has become a essential service for most of us and we need it and will stand to lose a lot if disconnected for a few days.

What do telkom care???

This will just free up bandwidth, people who dont disconnect will get the bandwidth they want and like it. Then the next month we all come back online and then.... can you say bottleneck !

Will never work, Telscum will be too glad to collect the reconnection fees of all involved. They would have lost nothing, but gained additional connection fees, interest on arrears, and we would be left in the lurch.

This kind of tactic wont work with a company who does not give a toss about their clients.

Now that's an attitude! There must be some way to protest things other than just complaining on this site. But what........

Could they really disconnect a thousand people that fast, when they can't connect 1000 people in a matter of months?

Trust me i'm not complaining, i'm simply saying that its not really going to help.

I've seen the lighter side! i lived in london for 2 year and had the pleasure of 8mb @ 27 pounds a month.

I think a time will come when Telkom will be forced to provide the population with an affordable ADSL connection that is also reliable.

As a matter of interest... How much power does ICASA have in SA? I know that Offcom in the UK has power, what they say.... happens!

mmm telkom will report you as a slow payer to the credit buro .... its a loose loose situation
