If the customer cancels the service before the 24-month contractual agreement period has lapsed, the customer will be penalized according to a sliding scale for early cancellation penalties, which is equal to R62.19 VAT excl multiplied by the outstanding months of the contract which will be levied on the customers final account.

Customers subscribed to the 24 month DSL bundled offering remain liable for the penalty under the following conditions:
Where a customer opts to:
- Discontinue the DSL Bundle service prior to the completion of the term of the contractual agreement.
- Transfer the service and retain DSL Bundle, but Telkom is not able to perform the transfer due to a number any reason (i.e. conformance testing failed, exchange is not DSL compatible or due to no infrastructure etc.)
- Where the customer wishes to upgrade his modem, before 18 months has lapsed, the customer will be liable to pay penalties for the remainder of the contractual agreement period. A new contractual agreement for 24 months must be entered into for the customer to receive a new free modem via Telkom Delivery or to be collected at the nearest Telkom Direct Shop.
Where a customer opts to transfer his service and retain the DSL bundle, and Telkom is able to perform the transfer without a number change the customer's Contractual Agreement will not be affected, thus no penalty will apply.
