What is a good alternative for ultraedit in linux?

I know all the default ones...Kate, Kedit, TEA, Vim etc..

But what I am looking for is a specific function that ultraedit has: If you have a text file, and this text file contains lines with http addresses on them (the url, not a link), you can just highlight the line, right click and go to open http, and it will open that url in a browser. I dont know if any of the above has this fearure and I am just missing it
 
Well I sorted out my own problem, thanks a lot BUDDIES!!!!

Got jedit, installed their infoviewer plugin. Then configured infoviewer to open an external browser.

Finally set up a macro to handle it, works like a charm
 
@Gothan - Does it handle relative links too? I mean, say I'm working on a file /var/www/mysite/index.php and there is a link to /news/index.php, will it open mysite/news/index.php?
 
I have no idea, have never tried it, but it you can pass the relative link in a command line to a browser, I am pretty sure you can set it up in infoviewer. What I also need to add is, infoviewer is actually a little browser on its own, so you can try by highlighting the link and then select open highlight url to browser.

There is also a ton of other plugins specifically geared towards html/xml and also markup. I just grabbed the first one, that I thought would help, and with firefox, setting up an external browser is easy, you just type "firefox" in the command line, and it accepts the link 100%, might work for you

Yeah.

Whenever I highlight a URL, Klipper pops up a dialog from its icon in the taskbar asking me if I want to open it in Firefox or Konqueror or whatever. This applies not only to Kate (the greatest piece of editing software ever made. Ever.), but to Thunderbird and pretty much all other applications in which you are able to highlight text.
