Hi everyone...I just got my ADSL and was wondering if you who are experienced at what I'm about to ask...

Let's us assume you leave your PC and modem running 24 hours a day, in other words not switching it off...My Question:

Do you use more band width that way or is it better to turn the modem and PC off when not in use!....Thanks!

Bandwidth use of router being permenently connected is negligable, probably 5 mb a day if that.

Yeah, a teeny tiny amount is used on an "idle" open connection. Switch it off if it bothers you, or you have to use 1GB over the whole month or something.

watch out for windows updates and virus protection updates etc. There are also some other auto update programs like the Adobe range... So just watch those. They can be sneaky and download quite a bit
