Hi

What is going on with Openweb 1Mbps Gold Uncapped? Anyone else having problems?
Downloads speeds averaging 14 kb/s all day.

Just received a reply from Keoma:
This is a shaped service. Daytime will be shaped. After 18:00, your connection is unshaped. This includes all weekends.

So an Openweb 1Mbps Gold Uncapped gets throttled to 10kb/s during the day?

I've been getting slower speeds on Afrihost today aswell, upload is going at full speed but download is only 0.50Mbps, yesterday it was 0.99Mbps.

Guess it is just shaping but it is never that slow during the day.

EDIT: Now it is even worse!

Test conducted on Mon Oct 08 2012 16:23:16 GMT+0200 (South Africa Standard Time)

Download Speed: 332 kbps (41.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 304 kbps (38 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 185 ms

I only downloaded about 6GB this month so far, so it cant be because i'm abusing the account.
 
I'm also experiencing very slow speeds - got the same canned response from Keoma.

I have the Openweb 2Mbps Gold Uncapped account.

Anyone else?
 
I'm beginning to think that it's actually congestion at the exchange. Everything was fine before these upgrades started, and then boom, the crap started with the 1024 -> 2048 upgrades. Speeds are manageable during the day at home (I've remoted in to check), and then when I get home in the evening it crawls at pretty much the speeds listed in this thread (upload is fine). Tried different accounts with different providers and it's the same story. Then at about 11pm it starts picking up again. It's gotten especially worse with the 384 -> 1024 upgrades. Get your act together and sort this mess out Telkom!

Unfortunately I have had to send notice of cancellation of my Openweb account... cannot put up with this nonsense anymore.

Doubt it... I've been at home today and have been monitoring my DLs. Very happy.
 
It is just getting worse!!!!

Download Speed: 151 kbps (18.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 315 kbps (39.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 189 ms

WFT Afrihost. It is not congestion as my Capped account is fast as hell.

FIX IT AFRIHOST.

Yeah the problem is not office hours, but after hours. As it is a residential exchange, congestion could be a problem in the evenings.

Speed is getting better now, still very slow for a 1Mbps account:

Download Speed: 561 kbps (70.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 408 kbps (51 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 185 ms
 
Speed test when on my CAPPED account, so there is no congestion at my exchange and afrihost is the one to blame.

Afrihost is my backup account... so do not use it much at all. I also have a free Cybersmart 1GB account as my ADSL line is still with them, and speedtest does not even load on this account, useless.

Even send Afrihost an email, but they just dont respond. My capped speed is flying, but uncapped is useless today. Just hope they fix it
 
Apologies for bringing up an old thread...

I'm sitting with the same problem. My browsing speed is extremely slow, downloads non-existant. I'm with Openweb, but this nonsense seems to have started since Afrihost went onto Internet Solutions.

I emailled Keoma, and his response was that everything's fine on their site. Must be a Telkom/router problem. So I tested my speeds with my FNB Connect account. Everything immediately returned to normal.

Uhm... Afrihost doesn't use Internet Solutions anymore. They use MTN now.

Same reason for me moving my account to MWEB
