I'm working through an exercise to help identify areas in my life that are most important. The idea is that you can't have everything in life and should concentrate on what is most important, to maximize your life.

Apparently these are the 18 key areas:

  • Family
  • Friends
  • Health and fitness
  • Income
  • Independence
  • Influence and power
  • Making use of talents
  • Personal growth
  • Positive impact on society
  • Prestige and status
  • Professional growth
  • Security
  • Spirituality/faith
  • Spouse/partner
  • Stimulating/rewarding work
  • Time for leisure and relaxation
  • Wealth/savings
  • Where you live

What you need to do is rank each item from 1 - 18. The first 6 are "essentials", the stuff that is important. The middle 6 are "nice to haves" important, but you would let them go in certain situations. The last are "non-essentials" things that you would be willing to forgo.

It would be interesting to see some rankings from forum members. Any one keen to give it a go? :D
It's a lot harder than it looks. And I think reveals a lot about one's personality.

I will break the ice:
7. Family
8. Friends
6. Health and fitness
1. Income
2. Independence
16.Influence and power
17.Making use of talents
13.Personal growth
12.Positive impact on society
15.Prestige and status
14.Professional growth
9. Security
18.Spirituality/faith
4. Spouse/partner
10. Stimulating/rewarding work
5. Time for leisure and relaxation
3. Wealth/savings
11.Where you live

Spirituality/faith comes stone last. Everything else sort of rearranges itself depending on my mood.
