Hi guys
I was wondering how mweb uncapped is like?
This is going to be my first adsl account so I had a few basic questions
What is news server ?
Do you recomend any other isp that can perform better around the same price range(perhaps openweb silver or standard)
How much could I download with this account If I was a 24/7 downloader?
Does this come with a free router?
and last what is ssl and does it work in torrents?
Mweb guy has already offered me a test account just need to get my line installed. How much is the cap on a test account?
Thanks guys you've been really helpfull

Thanks for the replies but none of my questions have been answered all ive leant is 384kbpas is cr*p.

It rather depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for a service for browsing and downloading and do not mind waiting 384 works well. If you are looking to download 20GB and upwards, the uncapped works well, albeit that torrents is low priority during peak times.

I downloaded win8 iso 3.2GB which took 24 hours.

OTOH I don't play online games or do regular torrents, so it suits me. While it would be nice to have a decent speed, cost is a higher priority.

With my Mweb account I also have the option of VOIP and only paying for call time used. As my router supports VOIP I can specify which calls to route via VOIP and which to route via Telkom, so all cell & voip calls go via voip, which save money, as does free mweb to mweb voip calls.

Works for me.

As a previous subscriber to the 384k MWEB uncapped service let me say this: If you can afford 1MB go for that instead. I always got full speed on my 384k, but thats like saying I got full speed on a 50cc scooter. Youtube is a pain, downloads take forever and if you are going to do any online gaming you will most likely lag due to packet loss from maxing out your line speed.

I would say the price difference in relative terms makes the 1MB uncapped a much more attractive prospect.

what about webafrica.? i do not play online but do need to download and activate games online. will their freezone work for this

Freezone from webafrica is discontinued (i think)

384 could be fine, but not if you have experienced 3G or a faster ADSL line.

for a first account it should be ok, but with frequent use you'll probably want to upgrade soon

What is the max amount I can download in a day with torrents and ssl.
