So ive been looking into screamer telecoms lately and looking at peoples post. Some of them have pings of 10ms. Why is this possible with wimax and not evdo when theyre both wireless? Neoflex has a ping of around 170-220 local which is huge compared to wimax?

Hmmm where to start ?

It's a pity Neotel did not roll out WiMax networks instead of CDMA. Much more potential in my opinion, reliable, fast ( although not here yet ) and low-latency. Can also carry voice.

Think of it as Fixed Wireless ( possibly Wi-Fi on a larger scale ) - there are notebook chips as far as I know for Wi-Max as well.

I'm assuming it has a constant bit rate, more like DSL, whereas CDMA is 'bursty' and bitrate fluctuates.

Wi-Max towers also connect to a DSL network, but I could be wrong, a quick Google brings up a lot of info. Have a look.

I had Screamer out here, but I couldn't get a strong enough signal, great service I got from them though and well I guess this might be a shortfall of Wi-Max, line of sight connections whereas CDMA works like cellular ( cells ). They also came to install within 48 hours!

I think if there were enough towers around though it really wouldn't matter. Hoping it'll pick up, I'll can Neotel in a heartbeat for a 4mbit Wi-Max connection.
