I want to convert DVD to AVI or RM or WMV or MPEG or whatever format.I have tried WinAVI and DVD ripper, they both take very long, about few hours.
My computer:AMD Athlon XP 2500+,Nforece 2,1G RAM.
Can somebody give me some recommendation, please?

the only way you're gonna get faster speeds without upgrading hardware is by dropping quality.. it sucks but the p4's that came out with HT at the same time as the AthlonXp you have where twice as quick when converting stuff :(

To rip into different formats will take a few hours. No program will be really faster than another. Have you tried XviD

I use DVDshirnk.. and I think the name gives it away. It convert DVD to other formats, so it is what you are looking for.

Its probably hte best and very easy, but more importnant is hte codec. Use X-vid for quality rips at good speeds. You can get it from their site or just www.free-codecs.com its a great site.

Oh and unless ripping is VERY important for you dont give up that beautiful AMD of yours.. AMD FTW!

Personally for DVD->AVI I have found I get the best quality and results from Auto Gordian Knot. It is open source so it won't set u back a dime.

Any idea what software i can use to do the reverse avi to dvd as i have a few video clips and stuff i want to convert to dvd then burn to dvd and watch them on my home dvd player which does not support divx, or anything other than dvd??

WinAVI is what you are looking for.

amonRe: ConvertXtoDVD is the winner there. It is THE best for anything -> DVD

regarding AutoGK, very easy to use but the quality can be dodgy
