What is the max USB capacity that TVs can read?

I want to buy a 128GB USB 3.0 stick to watch videos on my TV from. I'd also like to use this when I travel to watch videos on the TVs available there.

Usually these are Samsung LCD 32 inch TVs or similar.

Before buying the 128GB USB stick, I want to check first what the max capacity size USB stick the TV can read as I think that sometimes if the size is too big the TV's USB port or the TV itself doesn't have enough power to read it.

Hope that all made sense :)

Any ideas on this or how I can check?
 
Depends on the TV :erm:

Don't think 128GB would be a problem, as you start to approach 2TB some issues may crop up but if the TV supports external USB playback it should work fine. But again, this is a very vague question.

Here is an example of what is in a manual ...... :D
 
It comes down to what file system the TV can handle.

I.e. FAT32 vs NTFS. and note that there's lots of fuzzy grey area with it.

I use my 3tb hdd external power and my 2tb 2.5" usb3 drive straight to my old samsung 32"

Only problem is Video files in excess of 2h15mins for some reason.

Tried firmware update on tv no joy.

Well here goes. I'll take a chance and buy a new 128GB SanDisk Ultra USB 3.0 Flash Drive and give it a try on my Samsung TVs and see. The USB stick won't go wasted either way :D

Will post once I've tested
 
*shrugs* I run my 2TB Western Digital external HD directly into my Samsung 40-inch TV, works like a charm with no limitations (apart from some codecs not supported). Maybe the 32-inchers are different, but I doubt it.
 
I use a 1Tb external HD on my 39inch samsung. Only problem is that it mixes file and folders.... so wrong movie in the folder

Solution.... delete individual folders... keep movie files all in 1 folder
