What is the software logic behind series recording?

New PVR 2p. I don't "get" series recording.

You select your series(s), up to max 20.
They only appear on schedule 24 hours before recording.

So when they appear, and they clash, as happens every day now, both(if it is 2) recordings get cancelled, with yellow exclamation marks, and "reason unknown".

Why cancel both? Why not search the EPG, see if one of them repeats, and then record at least one of them, and the other later.

I am struggling to get anything, by the time I get to the playlist, at night, I normally have 6 to 8 recordings cancelled notifications, and no series recorded!

Is the software programming for series record that basic or just illogical?

Isn't it supposed to automatically "go" for a later recording in case of a clash?

Its written by Multichoice... so its useless.

My PVR does not rec anything on any BBC channel and when a series restarts as is the case with SET channel rec starts over again.

Sell your PVR...cancell your subscription. Then download all the series you want from the internet. Pop some corn and enjoy..........

I do get many series(s) of the internets, BUT, you cannot download what you don't know exists.

There are some stunning shows on DiscoveryHD, which I never knew existed. Easier to get off DSTV than download HD episodes and
abuse uncapped.

DSTV, with HD sport, movies and Discovery is worth the money (to me at least), the problem is with them presenting me with a seemingly nice feature (series record), but not being able to deliver on the promise.

got the original HD PVR, never had a problem unless you're trying to schedule more than 2 recordings at the same time?

If you go to Discovery, National Geographic etc websites, you will see ALL the shows there...you don't need to pay R655 per month for a list of shows? I go to HBO website regularly to see what's happening...anyway just my opinion. Good luck and I hope you get the solution you need.

You have to pay for one, then see her, and realize she is 57 and blind in one eye.

Having DSTV, casually browsing, over the weekend, is like having a "Men's Magazine". You sort of see what the girls look like, before you invest time in her(the program).

New hit series(s) from the states are easy to find and evaluate, but I would never choose "Chasing Classic Cars" from Discovery website as sumpfin I would have bothered to download, and yet it turned out to be my new fav show.

Besides, I think F1 in HD alone is worth the bucks from M.Choose.

Love the prostitute analogy...brilliant. I agree that DSTV does give one tasters of what's out there. I have DSTV myself but only pay R224 per month for it due to family connections...I only use it for sport though. The rest comes off the net...even stuff like Goldrush Alaska, Ice Road Truckers, Whale Wars...the list goes on and on. Trollinh through endless programming lists on sites can be exhausting but for that I have one "word" only: IMDB.com
