I am just curios, we got a old ford ranger bakkie at work. Some weeks ago if got hot, there was no water in the radiator, ford replace the radiator.
Today they drove it slowly, 60 for 5 minutes, the bakkie got hot again, till the needle was at red, then he stopped, but did not switch the engine off, and you could see how the temp meter went to normal, as soon if he starts driving the temp goes up.

What is wrong here.

Water pump is fooked most likely. Or thermostat jammed closed, but I'm going with pump.

Could be many things if its mainly under load it could also be running lean.

Water is contained in the coolant tank not the radiator.

No water in radiator means a gasket leak. Water is ending up in exhaust or oil.
