GTA2, one of the best (and funiest) lan games ever.
Also good is OPEN ARENA its a Quake 3 clone and its freeware!

Far cry 1 was a awsome game to play lan
I use to play it at some chinnese internet cafe in edenvale.
Also I enjoyed playing Generals zero hour very fun.

The games i had most fun with multiplayer
Chopping someone's arms off in rune, and then chasing after them hitting them with their own arm.
Aliens vs. Predator: predator tag... the unfairness of it all is what makes it fun, invisibly stalking your prey and then decapitating hm with one shot.
Age of empires 2 with no siege weapons or gunpowder.
Rise of the witch king.... The map with the castle. Give the defender 30 minutes to build up defenses and then attack. If he survives for another 30 minutes he wins.
