So I'm with Mweb at the moment... Can't deal with it anymore because due to my 'historical usage', I'm basically throttled constantly. Like I'll get my speed back for a day or two and then back to being throttled. What I want to know from you guys is, what is the 'best' ISP currently for a 4Mb/s(or maybe better) line? Like value for money, reliability, tech support etc.

Looking forward to the replies.

There are literally hundreds of topics asking the exact thing.

First of all, what is your budget.

Sorry, a little lazy to search through. Budget is R200 - R400 not including line rental.

Depending on the package I suppose? I just really don't want to be throttled and have the experience of Mweb. What ISP are you with and what package Rickster? Thanks for the replies, by the way.

Pretty much every ISP has troubles:

- Mweb with your issue
- Telkom with their throttling
- WA and their star rating
- Afrihost and their shaping

I don't remember any ISP's. So I'm ending there :P But you get the drift.

Now in most cases, the solution is to upgrade to a business / premium account. I stand corrected here, but Mweb also throttles on their premium accounts. I don't know about Telkom. The star rating system still applies with their business accounts.

That leaves you with Afrihost business.

You get what you pay for, I know because I have a 2meg business account with them and I'm a heavy user. Besides being the best bang for buck / get what you pay for option, they're also the cheapest business accounts out there.

There are so many threads around here moaning about AH and how bad they are. So many people saying that they've been on the decline since MTN came on board. And in all cases (for the ADSL shaping issues in particular), they've been on a home uncapped account.

I'm quite sure that they are their business accounts are the best on offer.

Pretty much.

Thank guys for your replies. Much appreciated! I've heard mixed reviews about Afrihost but noticeably more positive than most other ISPs.

Try telkom if you can schedule your torrents from 12am to 7am. 2Meg line.

Just upgrade to premium. MWEB is one of the better ISPs with regards to FUP if you're on premium.

To be honest, I've been with Mweb for most of my ISP life and I just don't want to a part of them anymore. The whole loyalty thing has no impact anymore.

Anyway, cancelled my Mweb contract, have to wait a month and then joining Afrihost and their 2mb/s uncapped business plan.

Thanks for the replies.

I didn't say stay for loyalty.

Good luck streaming with AH.
