I sat staring disbelievingly at my monitor for seventeen whole seconds right now.

I downloaded GAIM...at a steady +-300KB/sec...on HomeDSL384..

Here's the proof...

either your eyes are going blurry (need new contacts/lenses perhaps) and your astigmatism has kicked in, or you have a new found talent, dyslexia!

and now? still going @ 300kB/s? doubt it. This shows the true potential of dsl.

I did that aswell on the DC++ server from another dude i downloaded a 300 meg file in
like 20 minutes at an average of 250Kb\s

Dunno wat Telkom did but if i could get that speed all the time i would be a very happy boy.

Then the connection reset shortly after that and back to 52Kb/s

Don't let die-hard iBursters see that - they'll start complaining about how slow 110kBytes/s is...:p

That is no proof unfortunately. Most download managers start downloading while you are busy telling it where to the save the file. Then it opens the download window and because it has actually started downloading prior to this window it gives a disjointed progress bar. If you then take lets say 5 minutes to decide where you want to download the file to it would already have downloaded +-5 mb of the file hence the huge disparity.

Sorry to burst your bubble.

In what dreamland do you think that it would last for that amount of time!??!?!!?!

Used with the download manager, called a buffer ppl.
Should only last like a max of 2-3 sec not 17 sec.

Have a feeling this could have happened when they were rebooting their d-Routers

he must have caught the connection before restrictions were implemented.

Just goes to show what can be done

Looking at the pic think that it was a buffer thou

Could have been a buffer...but the point I wanted to make with this post is that the exchanges are well capable of true broadband. We're just not being allowed to experience it. *shakes fist*

Agreed!!

I unfortunately find it hard to believe that this speed lasted for 17seconds. If this is so then why was he still at 229KB on his download when he took his snapshot. This normally only last for a few seconds and then drops drastically. I will believe that it reached those speeds right in the beginning but not for 17seconds!!

Anyway... Maybe Im wrong but it's very hard to believe. :o

May I ask why?... I am an ADSL user and I have heard both good and bath things about iburst, so I am curious to hear directly from an iburst user :)
