What are media codecs? Video and Audio drivers?

It is what you need to play AVI, MP3 and DVD's. Without these codecs and libs you wont be able to play them. In Mint, these are all installed for you and you can play almost any media you can think of out of the box. With Ubuntu, you need to enable Medibuntu and restricted repositories. When you then try to play a certain file, a AVI for example, it will then search for that codec and install it. Pretty easy once you have enabled everything. But for a noob I would say go with Mint untill you are a bit more familiar with linux.

The last time I installed SUSE Linux it just sommer connected to the internet through my router & downloaded all the necessary updates. I was impressed.

ATM I am running Kubuntu in a dual-boot with XP (Install Linux after XP for the bootloader to work one time or you'll be pulling your hair out if you don't know what you're doing).

Kubuntu is good. Don't pass on Windows until you know what you're doing.

Use Kubuntu for KDE desktop, or Ubuntu for Gnome desktop.

I heard a wild rumour that Ubuntu 10.04 will allow my iPhone to sync with Evolution? Can that be true????
