Hi guys. Can you guys maybe explain this to me. Which processor is better?

• Intel® Pentium Dual Core T4500 2.3GHz
• Intel® Core™ i3-330M Processor 2.13GHz

Now, the Pentium Dual Core is 2.3 GHz and the I3 is 2.13GHz. Both has got two cores as I understand it. But the I3 is newer and more expensive. Which one is better?

I hope you guys can clarify this for me.

i3 is quite a bit better.

Intel Core i3 330M @ 2.13GHz Passmark CPU score: 1955
Pentium Dual-Core T4500 @ 2.30GHz Passmark CPU score: 1568

Cool thank you. But I always thought that the higher the GHz, the faster the processor. The I3 has a lower clock speed than the Pentium Dual Core. Why is it better then? Sorry if this is a stupid question....but I would really like to know.

The architecture of the i3 is more advanced, so you can't just do apples to apples GHZ comparisons. Actually GHZ haven't really ever been a good way of measuring the speed of a CPU; it was only during the P4 era that Intel managed to convince everyone that more numbers = faster performance; until they hit a thermal wall and moved towards dual core chips and so on.

Oh ok. Thanks guys. :-)

Also the 32nm architecture ensures less heat and more battery life.

Going forward intel is looking at a combination of speed and energy efficiency so the sandy bridges use less power than nehalem and so on.

Sent from my GT-I9000 using MyBroadband Android App on Darky's rom.

Depending on what applications you use, the one with the faster frequency could actually be faster for you. So you should take your pc usage into consideration, and then compare benchmarks.

Dead on...nice

I'd settle for an Core i5.
Decent speeds for good value for money, but yea Core i3 is better.

Don't waste your money on a Core i5, the only difference between the i3 & i5 is that the i5 can overclock an extra 200Mhz. Whoopie.

The Core i3 is fantastic, cos it has two physical CPUs + 2 hyper threaded CPUs, giving you a quad core CPU.

COOL. I hope the insurance pays out for my stolen redundant laptop. My sister's company is running a special on Toshiba's, the one is with a Intel Dual Core and another little more expensive one with a I3 CPU. Me likey likey!!!!!!

/facepalm
Real cores > virtual cores hence
i5 > i3

edit: got confused with desktop chips :p
Regardless - i5 > i3. i5 clocks higher - CPU goes higher by up to 1GHz and the integrated GPU clocks higher by up to 600MHz
