Hi

Since Tuesday we had no phone or dsl, so I phoned to log a fault and eventually today (Sunday) a Telkom Tech guy comes to check why, after popping in & out several times with black-box's, he eventually fixed it where is was syncing and had a dial tone, but now i did a speed test and i usually got about 3.4/6 Megs a sec, now im getting 2.1 Megs- but very sporadic cause it then dips down to .9 megs near the end sometimes.
I have 2 Questions:
  • how can i log a fault with Telkom to fix it so i can be where i was (3.4/6 megs) , if they say up to 4 megs?
  • And who should i speak to to ask if my line can get upgraded to 10 Megs (If the telkom adsl checker says so)?
Any help can and would be appreciated

Seacom is down, so all ISPs who use Seacom as their primary link are affected.

Have you reset your router/modem yet?

Is your telephone line clear or do your hear a crackle or buzz on the line?

I've rest my modem, done a port reset, and there's a slight crackle

Report the voice line faulty (crackle). To fix that they will have to trace the fault and fix it properly. Then your ADSL service will also improve!

/sounds like a dry joint somewhere.

EDIT: do NOT mention ADSL !!!!
