Hey Everybody

I have been reading your posts and I am shocked by the service of iBurst you guys are reporting. My only problem is, form Monday, I will be working form home. I am currently renting and I am moving planning to move out at the end of the year. So ADSL is out of the question.

What internet should I get, it must be mobile, is iBurst my only option?

Vodacom would be your best bet, should you not require high bandwidth usage.

Which area are you in, there are some other good WiFi operators around...

iBurst are slowing sorting out their problems. I would not totally disregard them if you are within their coverage area.

I think you best option is to weigh up what they can provide you with what is available from Vodacom 3G in your area. Depending on coverage and usage patterns either could be an option for you.

To best evaluate you probably want try and borrow modems from a friend and try them out at home.

Which ones? If anything the complaints on this forum are escalating. Nothing has changed at iBurst, nor is anything getting better.

I know this as I regularly have to deal with them.

jlr, there is little exaggeration in terms of the posts on this forum about iBurst. Use it only if it your last option.

I am also renting and do not want to wait for Telkom to come and install phone lines in a place where I might not stay for a long period.

Last week I got iBurst and I am very satisfied with it. I bought the modem and I am on a month-to-month 1GB package. No contract for me thank you. I also like the fact that they offer data carry-over and that I only pay R199pm - no line rental etc.

Sure you can get a faster connection, but at what price - and do you really need such a fast connection? As long as I don't have to sit and wait for a page to be loaded I am happy. iBurst is really not that slow or bad as some say it is.

It is instant, fast, wireless internet ;)

Do you work for iBurst. One post and singing the praises........ Excuse me for being slightly sceptical.

If I am wrong welcome to the forums :D

You have only been with the w@nkers for a week. So be patient, soon you will know what all the griping is about.

Hehe no I am not working for them, I just can't see what all the fuss is about - yet.

Maybe this was just my lucky week.

Sorting themselves out? After the recent "upgrade" things have just gotten worse, and for the last 2 or so years they wern't very good to start with.

Oh iBurst how your proxy busts up my innocent http downloads with but a simple stroke and how your sweet sweet timeouts teach me patience beyond that of even the gods.

LOL!!!!

Yep, we all have them once in a while, but are soon brought back to earth with a bump.

@jlr, just check out the hellopeter link in my sig to see what others say about iburst, then if you decide to go with iburst you have to be crazy.

Get iBurst through a RESELLER. There, if you're happy with a max speed of 112KB/sec
and a min speed (after cap) of 8KB/sec.

enjoy it while it lasts. HSDPA isn't even all it's cracked up to be on some days - can't imagine iBust!

I should probably mention that I get my iBurst through mweb. This probably does not help with the connection, but hopefully with support and billing...

After a week of using iBurst I can't complain about the speed of the connection.

They are?
I never said they were perfect and I could list many things that they are still doing wrong. I could however do the same for most other ISP's in this country.

That said - I have not had (touch wood) billing problems for a long time. The call center answers the phone faster than it used to - and phones you back when they promise to do so. And I was pleasantly surprised when i received an extensive email response to a query that I sent in recently.

The new OSS implentation has been far from smooth and slick but the old system had many underlying flaws that were contributing to the network's instability. If they manage to get the issues with the new system sorted then everything should be running much better after that.

lol I don't know if I'm just lucky or downright stupid but I've actually had semi-decent service from iBurst. Sure, they're more expensive but I get the full 1Mbps on download accelerators. I've been with them for close to two years now, and this past year they've only been down once. On WoW I used to get like 400-650 ms and now on LOTRO I get 250-350ms. Just my 2 cents Woolworths gift voucher

Having more than one connection going when downloading does utilise the connection better, I get >100KB/sec speeds when doing that, too.

Yeah. For some reason my limewire/frostwire just stopped working too.

Sigh.
