Hi everybody,

Seriously sick with my Neotel Prime connection dying every 5 minutes, my Windows 2003 Server trying furiously to bring it back up for a couple of times, and then having it die again 5 mins later. As somebody who has to work from home during Dec, my MS Exchange e-mail is one painful experience. So I will probably cancel my Neotel.

What should I move to? I am renting but looking at buying a house, so ADSL for like 2 months seems too excessive (although ultimately that would be the solution). 3G? iBurst on month to month? ADSL for 2 - 3 months (how quick are Telkom in Dec?)

Would it make sense to keep the Neotel Prime device (I had it for around 14 months) and just use it for a phone? How much would that be a month?

I am in Pretoria East, and when I move will stay in PTA East. Currently on 2.5G package.

telkom- Openweb account.

How practical is this if he has to get ADSL set up on his phone line (don't know if he even has a phone line at all)? I'm in the same situation, would love to get ADSL but with 3 month remaining on my lease, it's not worth the hassle of applying for a line, getting ADSL set up on it then getting accounts etc.

IBurst or 3G would be your best bets, 3G moreso. If your mail is your biggest worry & you are not going to be downloading a lot, then a 500M or 1G bundle will probably suffice.

No phoneline, and while I really think ADSL is the only quasi-reliable connection, I can't say that I will be here another 3 months to justify getting a line, ADSL etc.

I don't know, at the moment my Neotel connection is just downright useless. Stays connected no longer than 5 minutes.

Bud - i haven't seen mail from you regarding this.
It's easy to post here, but what about actually asking us to investigate the possibility of network prob on towers you're on????

Mail us... you never know! ([email protected])
