I moving over to a iPhone 3GS and need a data bundle asap,I am on MTN.

The 75mb for R50 seems like a decent deal ie. 0.67c/Meg but 75mb looks too small.

The next option up is the 100mb for R80 but in this case works out to 0.80c/Meg.

What bundle are you guys using for your phones & do they satisfy your requirements ?!

It really depends. I'd say get at least 100mb. iPhones can be data-intensive, there's Skype over 3G, which is awesome, web-browsing, which uses a lot, (Opera mini can help with that), and of course apps. I find I use wi-fi for most of my internet usage though, so it also depends on whether you have ADSL with wifi.

But basically buy some data, and see how it goes. You can top up your bundles as you please.

1Gb on Telkom 3G.
That is a fantastic option.

Oh yeah, and be sure to check out the iPhone tips & tricks thread. It tells you how to get a free US iTunes account, which is essential for the full App store.

I don't buy bundles on the Phone, so I pay R2 per MB I guess - Apps I download on my PC though, and then sync, or I just use the work's WIFI for free.

can someone using android tell me what data bundle they are using?

Really depends on your usage. I suggest loading the 3G watchdog app and monitor your own usage for a few days. Set it up with a data bundle size you think you will be happy paying for.
Based on you usage over a few days, the app will give you a forecast of how much of that actual bundle you will use or how much over you will go over the bundle.

I am using the 75Mb bundle, but i also connect to wifi at home - when i do most of my syncing and app downloads.

How do you use this option? Surely you need a telkom sim card for you phone?

Quite correct. I have a spare pocket PC that I use for the Telkom 3G service. You can use any 3G enabled phone...

Im using Android,i have a SE X10, get a 2.3GB bundle, but thats cause i also download a lot of music, videos, apps and large games on it. For an average user i'd suggest 300mb ,its around R140, just to be safe,as quite a lot of the apps get updated frequently ,the widgets like weather, facebook and twitter widgets update quite a lot during the day and also web browsing can take quite a lot. I think 300mb would be fine, you will find that Android phones, especialy the high ends e.g Desire, X10, Galaxy S and Milestone can handle a lot more in terms of web pages and other data services ,so you may use them a lot.

On my HTC Desire I'm rocking with a 500MB bundle for casual browsing, using G. Maps, email, FourSquare, etc. as well as the occasional tether to my netbook when the need arises. Not enormous, but considering I switch to Wi-Fi the moment I get home, it's enough.
