What software/apps do you use to backup your smartphone?

Hi,

Have a S3, need to backup my phone to PC (contacts, images, music etc). I used to use the free version of MobileGo...but it hangs so often mid process, leaving my frustrated and 4 months without a backup done :wtf:

What do you guys use to make full backups to PC, any recommendations?

I use Windows Phone, everything is stored in the cloud, so no backups needed. Office365 for mails and contacts and OneDrive for images, music and docs. You should be able to do the same on Android with Gmail and Google Drive.

Nothing really. There is nothing to backup.

Google+ and Dropbox automatically backup all my pictures.
Google automatically backs up my contact list.

If I get a new device it imports all my apps, settings (including wireless settings) and pictures back onto my new phone.

There is nothing to back up, its already automated.

I use titanium backup from the play store. Backs up user apps + system apps + data. Must be rooted though

That method auto restores all apps + app settings + app data just like they were at the last Google sync?

Clockwork mod for rooting.
this gave me the ability to create a complete snapshot.
once a month I make a snapshot save it to SD, move snapshot to backup drive for safe keeping.
Keep latest on phone and 2 previous ones on backup drive (this is after my little rooting fail last week)

in addition to that I have titanium backup for apps plus data and google sync for contacts.
all this because I had sync off last week and this lead to me losing a lot of contacts.

That snapshot trick is good one,, basically you can recover that device to exactly how it was at that moment system/apps just by restoring one file through recovery?

yup. but pro tip. make 2 backups, restore one, if it fails delete it, because as I have seen a few times in my haste I sometimes mess it up.
you think you have a snapshot but you dont, some system file is missing and you go into bootloop...

2 backup sessions each time you make a snapshot to ensure at least one is good?

Do those backups save the root?
ie if I reloaded the exact same stock firmware which removed the root and reset the phone to factory, then installed recovery with Odin and restored the backup would that restore the root?
Am I being a little hopeful!?
