i used paperless post for electronic invites, saves the hussle of having to deal printing and keeping a tally who's coming.

Try Scribus.

Get a free template on google or cheap one (R100 or less) on themeforest and use Gimp/Paint.net or Inkscape to edit the content

Lots of "flipbook" software out there that creates really nice digital invites if you have the accompanying design.
