SA 2nd on the Mac index. I wished I earned that salary.

Don't even get half that

It's depressing that 42% are self-taught.

American developers average salary is 89,631.68USD that equals R1 062 390,41. Earning a quarter of that is a wakeup call .And here I am with a degree

There is a debate on the discussion page where people say they 'self-taught' albeit they have a degree.. just did not learn the current language. The point being that self-taught != no degree.

That being said, I wonder what the % of people are really self-taught in IT in the various countries where they do nt have a degree. Interestingly when i listen and and watch founder videos I find that most are young and either dropped out while doing varsity or finished just before their product becomes big enough to demand a lot of attention.. but in these cases going to varsity was not to learn the development language as they already did know how to program/write code.

Having a degree is not a guarantee for success. And dropping out isn't either.
